Brittany Lyons, Miss Jamaica World 2008
It was signed, sealed and delivered, when 19-year-old Brittany Lyons walked away with the covenant title of Miss Jamaica World for 2008. The Newly crowned queen who also won Miss Jamaica Beach Body was very ecstatic about her win and said that Miss Jamaica has become a family tradition as she is following in the footsteps of her mother, Marie-Claire Delapenha, who was first runner to Miss Jamaica World 1980, Michele Harris.

Brittany however and obviously took it one step closer and literally took home the crown. Jade Grant was first runner-up and Marsha-Gay Reynolds, second runner-up.

Brittany Lyons is a student of the University College of the Caribbean who would also like to make her mark in the fashion industry will now turn her attention to the Miss World, which will be held in Kiev, Ukraine.

With all the excitement surrounding our athletes in Beijing, Lyons will continue along that path to showcase Jamaica in all its’ glory and hopefully with her winning personality, good looks and charm, she will talk home the Miss World crown.

Jamaica has not done so since 1993, when Lisa Hanna was crowned Miss World. Lyons wants to be much more than Miss World, but also an Ambassador to her nation and set good examples for other to emulate.

We will follow her through out her reign and wish her all the best in Ukraine.
